What a garden room base needs
A garden room base needs to be level, stable and free-draining. A 100–125mm concrete slab on 100mm MOT Type 1 is typical for a timber-framed garden office or room. If the room is heavier — brick or block construction — the slab may need to be thicker.
The base should extend slightly beyond the footprint of the room so the structure has a full bearing edge.
Access to the garden
Garden rooms are often at the back of the property, which means the concrete wagon needs to reach there. Check the route — side passages, gates and narrow paths are the common issues.
If the wagon can't reach the garden, we can barrow the concrete for small pours, or use a pump for larger ones. Send us photos of the access when you request a quote.
Quantity and delivery
A typical garden room base of 4m × 3m at 125mm is about 1.5m³ — a small pour, well within a single wagon. With volumetric concrete, you only pay for what you pour, so there's no wastage charge.
Have the area fully prepared — excavated, sub-base compacted, formwork fixed — before the wagon arrives. Concrete doesn't wait.
