What is volumetric concrete?

Volumetric concrete is concrete mixed on site, at the point of pour, rather than at a batching plant. Our volumetric mixer carries the raw materials — cement, sand, aggregates and water — separately, and batches and mixes the exact quantity and mix design you need when we arrive. You only pay for what you pour.

What is the difference between volumetric and ready-mix concrete?

Traditional ready-mix is mixed at a plant and driven to site in a rotating drum — the concrete is already mixed and the clock is ticking. Volumetric concrete is mixed fresh on site from separate raw materials, so it's fresher at the point of pour, the mix can be adjusted on the day, and you only pay for the exact quantity used.

How much concrete do I need?

Concrete is measured in cubic metres. Multiply the length by the width by the depth of your pour (all in metres) to get the volume. For example, 10m × 5m × 0.1m = 5m³. Add a 5–10% wastage allowance for uneven ground. Use our concrete calculator to work it out, or call us and we'll help.

How is concrete measured?

Concrete is measured in cubic metres (m³). One cubic metre is roughly 2.4 tonnes of concrete. When you order, you specify the volume in cubic metres — and with volumetric supply, you only pay for what you actually pour.

Can you deliver small quantities?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because we mix on site, we can supply anything from a fraction of a cubic metre up to roughly 8m³ in a single visit. There's no minimum load charge in the way there is with drum ready-mix — you only pay for what you pour.

Can you mix concrete on site?

Accepted Answer

Yes — that's exactly what volumetric concrete is. Our mixer batches and mixes the concrete on your site, fresh, at the point of pour. The raw materials are carried separately and combined to the correct mix design as the concrete comes off the wagon.

What concrete mix do I need?

It depends on the project. Driveways typically use a C25 or C30 mix, foundations a C15 to C25 depending on the engineer's specification, and slabs vary by loading. We don't give structural engineering advice as fact — follow your engineer or building control specification, and we'll batch the concrete to that mix.

Can you supply concrete for foundations?

Yes. We supply strip foundations, trench fill, raft foundations and pad bases to your engineer's specified strength class. Because we mix on site, we can batch to the exact quantity the trench takes — no over-ordering.

Can you supply concrete for driveways?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We supply driveway concrete at the correct thickness on a proper sub-base, with reinforcement and the finish you want — brushed, imprinted or power-floated. We can also lay it if you'd like the full service.

Can you supply concrete for slabs?

Yes — garage bases, workshop floors, extension slabs, agricultural yards and commercial hardstanding. We supply the right mix at the right thickness with proper sub-base and jointing.

Can you supply agricultural concrete?

Yes. We supply farm yards, livestock areas, barn bases, silage clamps and track concrete across South Wales. Volumetric mixing is well suited to rural sites where the journey from a batching plant would be long.

Can you deliver to a house?

Yes. We deliver to domestic properties every day — driveways, extensions, garage bases, patios and shed bases. Our mixer is an 8-wheel lorry, so it needs reasonable access, but we can advise on pump or barrow options if access is tight.

Can your wagon access narrow roads?

Our volumetric mixer is roughly the size of a standard 8-wheel lorry, so it needs a route wide enough and firm enough to reach the pour location. If your access is tight — narrow lanes, low bridges, weak covers — tell us when you book and send photos. We can advise on pump options or a smaller approach.

How do I request a quote?

Call 01495 820164 or fill in the quote form on our website. Tell us what you're pouring, the approximate quantity, your postcode, preferred date and any access details. We'll confirm the mix, the price and the delivery time — and call you the evening before we arrive.

Can I send photographs of my site?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and we encourage it. You can upload photos of your site and access with the quote form. Photos help us assess access, ground conditions and the right approach before we come out, so there are no surprises on the day.

Do you deliver aggregates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We deliver MOT Type 1, sharp sand, ballast, 40mm shingle, screened topsoil and crushed concrete across South Wales, tipped direct to your site by our 20-tonne tipper fleet. Same-day delivery is often available.

Do you provide grab hire?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We run 8-wheel grab lorries with an 8-metre hydraulic reach, collecting up to 16 tonnes of inert waste, spoil and rubble in a single visit — over walls and fences where skips can't reach. We're a licensed waste carrier with full transfer notes.
