Concrete Calculator

Concrete is measured in cubic metres (m³). To calculate the volume, multiply the length by the width by the depth of your pour — with all three measurements in metres.

For example: a driveway that's 10m long, 5m wide and 100mm (0.1m) deep needs 10 × 5 × 0.1 = 5m³ of concrete. Adding a 5% wastage allowance brings that to 5.25m³.

If your depth is in millimetres, divide by 1000 to convert to metres — 100mm = 0.1m, 150mm = 0.15m. For irregular shapes, break the area into rectangles and calculate each separately, then add them together.

In most domestic jobs the depth is set by what the concrete is doing. Driveways, patios and shed bases are commonly poured around 100mm over a compacted sub-base, while garage bases and heavier slabs usually go nearer 150mm.
