A concrete driveway is only as good as what's underneath it. We supply the right mix, at the right thickness, with the correct sub-base and reinforcement — so your drive doesn't crack, dip or drain the wrong way.
The basics
A driveway takes vehicle loadings every day, so the concrete needs to be thick enough, sat on a properly compacted sub-base, and reinforced to control cracking. We typically pour driveway concrete at 100–150mm thick on a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, with A142 mesh or fibre reinforcement and movement joints at calculated centres.
The finish matters too — brushed for grip, imprinted for pattern, or power-floated for a smooth surface. We'll advise on what suits your property and how the surface should drain.
Quantity
It depends on the area and the thickness. A typical single driveway of roughly 25m² at 100mm thick needs about 2.5m³ of concrete. Use our concrete calculator to work out the volume for your exact dimensions, then add a small allowance for wastage and uneven ground.
Because we mix volumetric concrete on site, you only pay for what you pour — so there's no need to round up to a full load and pay for the surplus.
Preparation
Access
Our volumetric mixer needs to get close to the pour location — ideally within barrow distance or pump reach. If your driveway is at the front of the property with open access, that's straightforward. If it's at the back or down a narrow lane, tell us when you book and we'll advise on pump options or a barrow run. Send us a photo of the access if you're unsure.
Tell us your driveway dimensions and we'll work out the volume, mix and delivery — usually quoted within 48 hours.
